Privacy Fence Installation
Privacy Fence Company Illinois

Privacy fencing is very common in today's market. Reason being, is just that; privacy. Many residential neighborhoods have houses crammed next to each other, so the need for privacy is essential. The situation becomes even more dire when you have conflicts with your neighbors. A privacy fence installation ensures you don't see them, and they don't see you.

What is Privacy Fence?
Privacy fence just refers to the distance between the pickets. For privacy fencing, the pickets are butt up against each other, versus gapped. There are no gaps present in privacy fences.

Semi-Privacy Fence?
Semi-privacy fencing is not as common, but some people prefer it Semi-privacy fences have gaps between the pickets. Typically, semi-privacy fencing is a premium and is often 15-20% higher in cost for materials. Semi-private usually refers to vinyl fencing, but technically that term could be applied to wood fencing as well. Picket fencing could be considered semi-privacy fencing, there is very little difference between the two. Picket fences usually have larger gaps between the pickets, versus semi-privacy fencing have tighter gaps between the fence pickets.

Privacy fences are common in the suburbs, especially when you have a pool or like to tan in the privacy of your own backyard. Privacy fencing is usually 6 feet tall, but also applies to 4 foot and 5 foot tall fences. The taller the fence, the better the privacy. 6 foot privacy fence is pretty standard. If you need something shorter than that, we can cut the panels to accommodate your request.

Privacy Fence Options
Vinyl Fencing
Vinyl fence is the best option if you want true privacy. The pickets are usually "tongue and groove" which means they overlap each other providing full blocking. Wood fencing can shrink, and the pickets are merely pressed against each other vesus grooved.

Vinyl Fence is a vinyl fence material that requires little maintenance. Vinyl fencing is available whether you want a fence for security, privacy, or to complement your landscaping project. As with our wood fence goods, our sales representatives are pleased to discuss our PVC vinyl materials with you, provide an estimate for your project, and schedule installation by our skilled crews. Additionally, we will bring your vinyl fence to your residence for self-installation. We only utilize the best quality vinyl fence items, which are on show in our yard. We offer white, almond, and khaki vinyl fence to complement the style of your home and garden decor. Our vinyl fence materials are warranted for a limited lifetime.

We offer a range of designs in 4′, 5′, and 6′ heights, including Solid Traditional for complete privacy and Spaced Picket for partial privacy. Additionally, lattice top fence is available, as are other popular styles. The majority of Solid designs are tongue and groove, allowing for a completely smooth installation with no visible fasteners. To ensure our gates maintain their strength and durability, we embed all of our posts in concrete and add aluminum post stiffeners where necessary and with each gate. Our walk gates and double-drive gates are available in a variety of colors and styles to complement your fence's design. Vinyl fence enables our clients to enjoy a low-maintenance product that does not sacrifice durability, lifespan, or strength.

When it comes to aesthetic, privacy, or pool fencing, a residential vinyl fence is a popular choice. It's a flexible, low-maintenance choice that gives your yard a unique aesthetic.

Our cooperation with ActiveYards® distinguishes us from other fence options because to the strength, fade resistance, and innovative design of their products. There are several designs, colors, wood grain choices, and heights available to suit your budget and project type.

ADVANTAGES Secure Pickets
The unique ActiveYards® GlideLock® design ensures that each picket locks securely into place without gaps. Not only does this provide isolation and solitude to your yard, but it also helps your fence withstand the weather better.

StayStraightTM Patented Technology

Wooden Privacy Fence

Now that you know vinyl fencing offers the BEST privacy, now lets talk about wood fencing. Why would you want a wooden fence versus a vinyl fence? Well, not everyone likes the look of a vinyl fence. It can appear "plasticky" and synthetic, which it is. Also, many homeowners prefer a more natural appearance, which wood obviously offers.

Cedar Privacy Fencing
Cedar privacy fences are the most common type of fence, hands down. They offer a low barrier to entry (low price point) and are very attractive when first installed. In the Schaumburg IL area, we get terrible weather. Chicagoland gets brutalized in the winter and summer, so cedar fences only last about 15-20 years tops without maintenance. With repairs and maintenance, you may get 30 years out of it, but that is extremely rare.

Cedar privacy fence comes in a handful of styles:
  • Dog ear
  • Flat top
  • Horizontal board
  • Custom- you choose!
The great thing about working with wood is, we can customize any look you like. All you have to do is provide us pictures and we build you a custom fence right in your backyard.

We Install Only the Best Western Red Cedar for Your Privacy Fence

Our cedar is supplied directly to us from the finest sawmills in the United States' Pacific Northwest region. This enables us to maintain tight control over the quality of the items we sell. By purchasing directly, we are able to supply only the best quality lumber at a lower price to you.

Our fences are completely custom-built at our factory, ensuring that each fence we install meets the exact specifications of your worksite. #1 Western Red Cedar timber contains natural oils that make it inherently resistant to deterioration. Western Red Cedar is an excellent choice for outdoor fence.

All oil-based staining products are compatible with our fence material. You may stain your fence whatever color you like to match your backyard, or you can use a clear sealant to protect the natural look and beauty of fresh wood. If left untreated and let to weather, our cedar will gradually fade to a lovely silver-grey hue. Allowing your cedar fence to weather naturally has no effect on the fence's integrity or durability.

Our first aim is to provide you with superior service and quality. Our highly-recommended professionals can install your fence for you.  We will offer loose lumber in 1′′x6′′ or 1′′x4′′ board sizes. Rails, posts, and completed sections are all available and may be delivered directly to your home for easy self-installation. Our staff have been educated to deliver the best possible standard of workmanship while installing fences.

We offer over 35 types of cedar fence in a variety of heights. Fence styles that are popular include solid, board on board, picket, traditional, and board on batten. Most may be customized with your choice of top, including dog ear boards, arched tops, scallop tops, and gothic and French gothic boards. There are two types of lattice topping: square and diamond. Lattice may be readily added to the top of the majority of our fences, providing a designer and imaginative appearance to your fence. We also provide Stockade Fence with round posts for a more rustic appearance. Stockade is a white cedar product that comes in two finishes: Milled and Rustic. It is available as a solid or picket type fence in a variety of heights.

There are lower grades of Western Red Cedar available in the greater Chicagoland region. Our cedar is Western Red Cedar of the highest quality. Purchasing a high-quality forest product ensures that your fence has the maximum life, longevity, durability, and attractiveness. We are a family-owned and run business that guarantees your satisfaction. We take pleasure in our work and look forward to serving you for years to come.

pressure treated privacy fence schaumburg il

Pressure Treated Privacy Fence

Not everyone knows about pressure treated pine for fencing. It is a great economical option for privacy fencing. It offers a similar appearance to cedar, but is much brighter in color. AC2 or pressure treated pine lends itself to better ground contact in wet conditions. The only downfall is the potential for warping. Also, you must wait at least a full season before you stain your pressure treated privacy fence. The chemicals that are used to treat the boards must be washed and cured before applying any type of stain.
The most common types of wooden fence materials are pressure-treated pine and cedar. If you have chosen that you want a privacy fence put on your property, you may be attempting to select between the two most popular types of wooden fence materials, pressure-treated pine and cedar.

Advantages of Pine Fences

Pine fences are a highly popular choice for fencing, largely due to its affordability and low maintenance requirements. The majority of the pine used in fence construction is Southern yellow pine, which has been treated with chemical preservatives to protect it against weather and insect damage, as well as rot. Pressure-treated pine fences generally cost between $39 and $45 per linear foot, not counting the cost of fence installation, according to industry standards. A pine fence will cost between $5,850 and $6,750 depending on how long you need it to be (150 linear feet is the usual length for a normal residential backyard).

Pine is also more durable than cedar when exposed to soil, which makes it a better choice for fence posts than the latter. In order to combat this, many cedar fences are constructed with poles made of pressure-treated pine and planks made of cedar instead of wood.

Pine fences have a number of disadvantages.

One small disadvantage of pressure-treated pine is the way it looks after it is finished. While the chemical procedure used to increase the durability of pine results in a greenish tinge, it will fade with time and may be concealed by painting or staining the surface of the wood. Pressure-treated pine is also more prone to warping, buckling, twisting, and shrinking than cedar, and it is also more vulnerable to insect damage as a result of its treatment.

Finally, pressure-treated wood can begin to seem worn in as little as a few short years, particularly if the fence is not properly maintained on an ongoing basis. Despite the fact that they are less expensive up front, pressure-treated pine fences typically survive 15 years or less – less than half the lifespan of cedar fences.

Compare & Contrast - Wooden Privacy Fencing

Advantages of Cedar Fences

Cedar is a lovely, high-quality wood that is immediately recognized by its pleasant scent and rich, reddish-brown color. Cedar is also a popular choice for furniture makers and cabinet makers. Because the wood has natural preservatives, it is not necessary to treat it with any sort of chemical. Cedar is prized for its distinctive grain pattern and color, as well as for its long life and resilience. It will typically survive longer and be more resistant to insects, mildew, weather, and rot than pine fence, and it will cost less. Cedar fencing has been known to survive for 30 years or more with proper care and upkeep.

The Drawbacks of Cedar Fences

A substantial price difference exists between cedar and pressure-treated pine. Installation of cedar fences generally costs between $45 and $60 per linear foot, depending on the quality of the wood used. For a fence with a length of 150 linear feet, the cost ranges from $6,750 to $9,500. Small picket fences are on the lower end of that price range, whereas towering privacy fences are on the higher end of that price range.

Apart from that, while cedar fences require less care than fences constructed of pressure-treated wood, they still require periodic maintenance such as cleaning or repair. If you want a fence that is as low-maintenance as possible, you might want to consider getting a vinyl or metal fence installed.
